Plastic recycle applications use centrifuges to clarify suspended solids from the liquid process solution. Centrifugally clarified liquid previously sent to a drain is re-circulated multiple times to extend the liquid’s working life, which reduces operating costs and minimizes disposal volumes.

Before the sorting process, the raw material is shredded to a particle size between 2 and 16 mm, and then washed of adhering impurities(e.g. paper labels). The shredded and pre-cleaned material is then mixed with the carrier liquid,in specially developed homogenization tanks. Next, the homogenized suspension is fed via a static feed pipe into the rotating bowl. Centrifuges are commonly applied to mass finishing applications and use the multiplied force of gravity to separate heavier suspended solids from the process liquid solution.
